RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities are given to him on whom trust rests. Responsibility is always a sign of trust.  Everyone has our own responsibilities. And they are given to those who are perfect to the task that God assigned to them. Those great leaders and heroes have the greatest responsibilities among us that are connected to the people under them. Responsibility is affiliated with decision-making. And that is the hardest part in life.
Have you been in the situation where you are to choose between your family and your responsibility? I think nowadays those cases are not prominent anymore. But I know two great persons of their time who have been in this situation. And they are Aeneas from Aeneid and Hector from Iliad.
As the Troy was falling, Aeneas wants to avenge and he wants to go in a battle against the Greeks to defend their race. But his wife, Creusa begged him to stay and save his own family’s life first. Seeing his wife acting that way made him flee with his wife and set aside his revenge. On the other hand, Hector from the book of Iliad just like Aeneas needs to be in a battle as one of his responsibility. He is to go in a battle with Achilles. And just like Creusa, Andromache the wife of Hector tried to stop his husband to be in the battle. He asked Hector to be in her side because if he dies in the battle she will be left alone and also their son Astyanax. Even though Hector loves his family so much, but he still insist in going in the battle and chose his duty for his fellowmen.
Both of the two heroes have been in the tough situation where they are to choose between family and fulfilling their task. Both of them were prevented from involving themselves in danger by their wives but they made a different choice. Aeneas chose his family than doing his duty while Hector chose his responsibility of protecting his fellowmen than the safety of his family.
Both of their decisions were right and they just did what they think was right. It is really hard to have a great obligation and responsibilities that’s why there is a saying that” Responsibilities are given to him on whom trust rests. Responsibility is always a sign of trust. ”

I Feel Sympathy for Aeneas.

Imagine Aeneas narrating to you the hardships that he and the Trojans experienced. Wouldn't you feel sorry for them? As Aeneas told the story of their fall in book I, I feel pity and sympathy for them. Everyone knows how hard it feels to be away from your homeland, but it is more difficult to be away with no chance of coming back because it is totally destroyed. But even though there is sympathy I am also amazed by their determination especially to Aeneas, because even though there are lots of disaster that they experienced he still encourage everyone to stay strong because he knew that there is an end for all their misfortune and sufferings. He didn't stop fighting to survive because he has a great faith to their gods and goddesses which made them successful in their journey. Even though I know that behind their sufferings, they will find and build a new home in Rome I still feel sympathy for them. Just like in every story even though the readers know that there is an end from the distress that the main character is feeling, they still feel pity for them. As what Aeneas felt during their journey, he lose his wife, father, and friends but still he strive for the sake of his comrades.
